Trigun: Episode Guide

Episode 23:
Paradise

Wolfwood has a flashback to his childhood, and then we meet the man who trained him into such a deadly gun fighter: Chapel the Evergreen. We discover that Wolfwood has been working for Knives the entire time. Chapel declares that he is now a Gung Ho Gun and his mission has been changed from protecting Vash to killing him. Wolfwood struggles with this decision and eventually decides to help Vash instead of killing him. Just as he comes to this decision they are fired upon by another Gung Ho Gun: Caine the Longshot. Wolfwood tells Vash to track him down while he seeks out Chapel. Vash easily gets the best of Caine, so the Gung Ho Gun shoots himself. Wolfwood and Chapel fight all over town and Wolfwood eventually comes out on top. Rather than kill his mentor he decides to walk away, just as Vash would. Legato takes control of Chapel and forces him to shoot Wolfwood in the back. The priest walks to Vash and tells him where Knives is. He then walks into a church, has a few words, and dies.
