Rurouni Kenshin Review

Alright... now this wasn't my first anime, but this is by far my favorite anime of all time right now. Rurouni Kenshin (or Samurai X in the U.S.) is a swordsplay anime, meaning there's tons of sword fighting and sword techniques in it. It's not a confusing anime, but if you don't pay attention closely or miss some episodes, you may be lost on what's going on. With that said, let us continue, shall we? The main character of Rurouni Kenshin is Shinta (or Kenshin) Himura.
In the series, he's a wandering samurai who's vowed to never kill again after the past he lived being Battousai the Manslayer. He carries a reverse blade sword so he doesn't kill anything that crosses his path. He's a kind-hearted man towards the people he loves and is very loyal but he will show his violent side when needed. It all beings when Kenshin wanders into Tokyo, to only be stopped by the girl who has a mad crush on him, Karou. She sees his blade and stops him and goes to attack him. After this encounter, she trusts Kenshin that he isn't a killer anymore.
Kenshin gathers two friends along the way, Sano and Yahiko. Yahiko looks at Kenshin as a role-model. Sano, at first, hates Kenshin because he used to work for the government, which Sano hates very much. But later, Sano gives in to Kenshin's strength and joins forces with him. There's over 70 episodes to this. Like I said earlier, you may want to watch from the beginning because if you don't, you will be very lost and not know what's going on.
Rurouni Kenshin is full of violence and gore, so if you have a weak stomach, I suggest that you don't watch this. I highly recommend this if you're looking for an action anime. This one may tickle your fancy. Also, if you like this series, you may want to pick up the OAV's which are Kenshin's past, Battousai the Manslayer. But be warned, those are REALLY filled with blood and gore. There are 4 OAV's in all.
