Title: Spider-Man
Cast: Tobey MaGuire, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe
Plot: Socially inept high school student Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive
spider and gains the proportional abilities of the arachnid. Parker tries to use his new
abilities for personal gain, but when he fails to do what is right his beloved Uncle Ben is
killed. Remembering an important lesson his uncle had taught him, Parker sets out to use his
powers to protect the innocent. This leads him into the direct path of the Green Goblin- a super
villain who terrorizes whoever gets in his way aboard his glider. Intertwined within the good vs
evil battles that make up Peter's life is Mary Jane, the girl he's loved since he was a young
boy. The movie is based on the Spider-Man comics.
Analysis: I'm a HUGE fan of Spider-Man, have been for quite some time. I had
high expectations for this movie. I expect to be disappointed, because I thought nothing could
live up to what I wanted out of this movie. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The acting
was excellent. Tobey was perfect for Peter Parker, as was Dafoe for Osborn. The story was well
written and well executed. The best comic book movie to date in my opinion.
